LASER SURGERYNo Description

We are pleased to be among the first veterinary practices in the area to offer your pet laser surgery. Lasers have been used routinely in human medicine and surgery for over 30 years, but only recently has become available for veterinary medicine. Since we have been using the laser, we've been thrilled with its capabilities, and we think you will be too.

WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT USING LASER?
  • o  Seals nerve endings: Lasers cut tissue with a beam of light, which seals the nerve endings so there is very little pain for the patient when they wake up.

o  Seals blood vessels: This means most surgery is virtually bloodless, incisions are smaller and more precise, and often less bandaging is necessary post-op.

o  Seals lymphatic vessels: This also helps minimize or even eliminate swelling after surgery.

o  Clean, precise dissection: The laser can more precisely remove unhealthy tissue while minimizing adverse effects to healthy surrounding tissue.

o  Kills bacteria and tumor cells in the operative field.

All of these factors make your pet more comfortable. Because there is less swelling, bleeding, and pain, your pet will return to normal activities more quickly.
Most surgical procedures can now be done using the laser. Here are just some examples:

  • Spays
  • Castrations
  • Declaws
  • Eyelid surgery
  • Skin growth removal
  • Tumors in the mouth
  • Invasive tumors
  • Bladder surgery
  • Removing extra eyelashes
  • Removing lick granulomas
  • Mastectomy

The laser can replace the scalpel in many procedures, and provides a better alternative to traditional surgery. It does cost more, but we think you will appreciate the benefits laser surgery has to offer.
