Low Level Laser Therapy
We now have a new modality to treat pain and inflammation, and for accelerating healing: Class IIIb Low Level Laser Therapy (LLT). This laser can be used for dogs, cats, and exotic pets
The cool thing about therapeutic laser is that there are no side effects; it's very safe. Unlike the CO2 laser we use for surgery, which cuts tissue precisely with a beam of light, our low level laser generates very little heat.
Every week we are finding uses for this valuable tool. For example, Pebbles is a 12 year old Lab who has a condition seen in her breed which causes a neuropathy in her hind end. Her severe arthritis didn't help either. We knew that we couldn't do much for the neuropathy, but in spite of being on several drugs for arthritis, she needed more help. We started treating her with the Respond Laser twice a week, and within several treatments the owner noticed that ?Pebbles? was able to walk better and farther.
Besides the uses shown on the diagrams below, the laser is useful for treating non-healing wounds, fractures, strains, sprains, and can be used on incisions after surgery to help control pain and speed healing. It can also be used along with, or instead of needles for acupuncture.
